Install

Sixty seconds to a live grid.

  1. Download the .dmg

    Grab the disk image with the button above.

  2. Open it

    Double-click the .dmg to mount the installer window.

  3. Drag to Applications

    Pull Helmsman into your Applications folder.

  4. Launch

    Open Helmsman and spawn your first agent into a cell.

PrerequisiteYou also need an agent CLI installed and signed in. Claude Code and Codex each work on their own. See Agent support for versions and feature differences.

UpdatesWhen a newer build ships, Helmsman offers it in-app from the titlebar chip. Every release is logged on the changelog.

Is it free?

Yes. Helmsman is free during the beta. Pricing comes after launch and will be announced before any paid tier turns on.

What access does it need?

Only your local machine. Helmsman drives your own Claude Code CLI and owns local terminals on your machine. It asks for no GitHub or OAuth scopes and relays nothing to a cloud. See the security page for the full story.

How do I update?

Helmsman notifies you in-app when a new version is available and links you to it. The download here always points at the current release, and every version is listed on the changelog.

The helm is yours.
